Porsche 996 Turbo - 400'000 km!
Porsche 996 Turbo - 400'000 km
Some Porsche get babied, never see rain, let alone snow. Some others get driven. Really driven.
Renndays' own 996 Turbo definitely belongs to the second category.
The car has been produced in June 2000, and is one of the very first 996 Turbo. I bought it from his first owner early 2001 with just under 7'000 km under the hood.
11 years later, I could probably fill a book with all that happened to us. This car was intended to be driven and it did: lots of trackdays all over Europe, mountain drives, snow-training, long and high-speed trips, etc. Besides the smaller issues, it got a new engine and clutch at 217'000 km, a Sportec Stage 3 upgrade (540 PS, bigger brakes, etc) at 240'000 km (details in french with many pics), suffered an engine failure at 318'000 km and got rebuilt by Sportec who managed to get 591 PS and 823 Nm out of it. Nice.
Since then, not much to complain about. It's still a true daily-driver and the power is as astonishing as ever. Since I'm occasionally racing a Clio Cup in the VLN series at the Nürburgring, the Turbo can regularly stretch its legs on the german Autobahn. The acceleration above 250 km/h is just amazing...

Today's video, entering the 400'000 km club:
Note: It has to be said that we know of one 996 Turbo that has an even higher mileage. The owner is T2 from the Rennlist forum. Kudos to him!
See you at the next milestone!
